Updates and ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

You must forgive me for my absent from the blogging scene lately... it hasn't been intentional! ;) I've got a few half-finished posts ready to be completed, but I just haven't gotten around to them... so, here's a quick update with randomness. :)

Firstly... I'm back in the South. (yay!) My northern vacation was great, but still. There's no place like home. ^_^ Though now I get to readjust to the heat... :P

Can anyone else not believe the summer is almost over? (for me, anyway -- your's might already be over! :p) I keep asking myself, where did it even go???? O_O

Oh and -- heh -- speaking of time and stuff, uh, just thought I'd mentioned I'm obsessed with Doctor Who now. Namely, 10. David Tennant. (ermergersh he's just so seriously awesome... ^_^ ;D)  Maybe that's where all my time went... spent watching Doctor Who... xD

I start school again on Wednesday. And I'll be a senior. I mean seriously, where did you go, time? *sigh*

My Trailer for The Battle of the Five Armies

So, last year I made a trailer for The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug about a month after the teaser trailer for that released (which ended up going on to get over 10,000 views on YouTube!!)

And because I absolutely adore doing things like that (making movies, digital editing, and such) I decided to do it again this year. But for The Hobbit: the Battle of the Five Armies. :D
While I absolutely adore the official trailer, I had several ideas of my own for a trailer for BOFTA... which I then made a reality over the course of about a week. The process included finding, downloading, and editing video clips, finding just the right music, and then, of course, editing it all together.

The music I used is called "An Unfinished Life" by Audiomachine, from their album "Tree of Life," and I edited the trailer using Windows Movie Maker (very high tech, I know. ;D)

(Microsoft recently updated Windows Movie Maker, and it works 900% better after the update. I couldn't used it last year for the DOS trailer I made, as it had a ton of glitches that kept ruining the video as I worked on it, but I decided to give it another try, and it worked like a dream! Super simple, but gets the job done quite well.)

With all that said, here's my trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Hope you like it. I really liked making it. (:

A Few Recent Projects [of varying forms]

Ok. This blog post has been a draft for almost two weeks now, and now I'm finally sitting down to make myself finish it. xD I promise I'll try not to take so long between posts in the future -- but, as I'm sure you're well aware, life happens. ;)

So anyway... It's been going well in my corner of the world. Last week was spring break, which was lovely and very relaxing, with friend get-togethers, silly games of "this or that" with my sisters, and, of course, a few projects, which I'm going to share with ya'll in this post! :D

Also during the week, Spring had begun to creep in with all it's glories: warm sunshine, green foliage, and cool breezes.

But now, school and the winter weather have returned... *sigh.* Well, life goes on, and the wait for spring continues. It'll be here soon. (:

So, about those projects I mentioned...

The first is this leather jacket that I thrifted for 2 bucks. It is seriously awesome... BUT it's a women's size medium, and I wear an extra small/small, so some alterations were necessary.

It was a pretty simple fix, it just took a bit of time to complete. I just had to take in the sleeves and sides a bit (ok, alot xD). Bonus: it's now perfect for my next little cosplay project... more news concerning that in a later post! No, I won't take two weeks this time... xD

One other really simple alteration project I had was a maxi skirt from Goody's -- for $6! Hooray for clearance and coupons, right?! The skirt was a small, but the waist band was rather large on me and stretched out a little (hence the clearance). But it wasn't anything a simple seam couldn't fix -- and it was six stinkin' bucks! I just couldn't refuse. ;)

The last one I want to share with ya'll was something I whipped up on a lazy afternoon, when I was in desperate -- yes, desperate -- need of a project.

It's made of cardboard (lols xD), black satin, cream chiffon, vinyl stick-on letters, and some silver trim left over from my Arwen costume from a couple years ago. I basically just made it up as I went... because you know that's how I roll. ;)

And, in case any one didn't know, that's a quote by Aragorn from LOTR. ;)

Oh, and that cosplay project I mentioned? Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. You'll hear more soon.

#Fandompocalypse

Hello all fangirls/boys! ;)

So, I came across something on Pinterest a while ago that I need to share with ya'll... and that each and every one of you must participate in. :D

It's occurring on February 15 (only two weeks away!), the day after Valentine's Day, and will be happening world-wide, with YOUR participation!! :D

#FANDOMPOCALYPSE DAY.

#FANDOMPOCALYPSE

Hello, followers, friends, and people of all kinds. This is for any fangirl or fanboy, anywhere in the world at all. I have realized that fandoms generally judge each other, we are never united. But we are all more or less the same. We are all obsessed about things (more like people) who we know we will never meet. We ALL love something so much, that no one can begin to understand. More on that later. *right in the feels*

Anyway, to the point, we need to be more united. So I have thought up #Fandompocalypse Day." Whether you are in a book fandom, a show fandom, a band fandom, a webcomic fandom, an anime fandom, or any other fandom AT ALL about ANYTHING, this is for YOU.

On February 15, the day after Valentine's day, it is "Fandompocalypse Day." Write "Fandompocalypse" on your left arm in green ink (even though that's supposedly not a creative color) and wear ANY article of clothing that has to do with your fandom. This includes cosplay, T-shirts, pants, hats, headbands, or anything that has to do with your fandom at all. You can even act like your favorite character all day, for all I care. Just participate!!!

My point is, we need to be united as one for at least this day. There is one more thing that is a part of this day. If you see any other person that has "Fandompocalypse" on their left arm, you must go up and say hey to them, hug them, whatever. It doesn't matter if they are a part of the fandom you normally detest, we are ALL fangirls and fanboys, we shouldn't judge each other!

The last matter of business, get this spread ALL over. On Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, anywhere else, whatever. Use the hashtag "#FANDOMPOCALYPSE" on your pic, and tell your friends about it. Let's make this happen, fandoms!!! Now go and spread the news!!

30 Day Middle-earth Challenge

Tauriel of the Mirkwood Guard Sketch

Sooooo now that I'm done with the bodice, and I still need to find fabric for the dress, production on my Tauriel Cosplay has gone on hold.

(In relation to fabric, however, I did buy 3 yards of almost perfect fabric at a thrift store - for only 3 bucks! - BUT I keep staring at it, and the color is just off. It's more teal than I want. So, the search continues. :P)

But anyway, long story short, I got bored, and decided to attempt to draw Tauriel. ;) It's modeled mostly after Weta Workshop's mini-statue of her, with just a couple changes. I made it over the course of a couple days, drawing the majority of it one night, then adding to it the next few days.

So anyway, here she is. Hope you like it! ;)

My Trailer for The Desolation of Smaug

Perhaps some of you guys are curious about what I was up to for the last weeks of my vacation. Well, I can show you! :D Actually, though, I didn't work on this the whole time. I made it over about three days. But regardless... ;)

So, basically, what you're watching is a fan-edited version (by yours truly! ;D) of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" trailer. The background music is the official DoS trailer music that Audio Machine composed, and the clips used are selections from the "Desolation of Smaug" trailer, the first and second "An Unexpected Journey" trailers, and from the movie, "An Unexpected Journey."

Alright, enough talking, right? Here's my version of the Desolation of Smaug trailer! I hope ya'll enjoy it!! :D
