See... what I thought was a set-in-stone plan that didn't have any kinks in it or any different possibilities, is now set in something more like jello.
hi future. |
So, basically, I've got 2 main options right now. One is in the town where I live, which my two older sisters went to. It's a really great school - small, Christian, and 5 minutes from my house. I'm in the process of taking my second dual-enrolled class online there (General Psychology)... and both classes were/are really good.
This was my original plan - just go there. Simple, easy, and no stress what-so-ever.
The only problem was that their film department isn't the absolute best, though it is still good (oh, and yeah, that's what I'm planning on majoring in - Cinematic Arts.)
Then comes along another school... is it safe to put the name here? Maybe. I'll go ahead and say. Liberty University.
There's a big chance you've at least heard of this huge Christian school... and if you haven't, the basic rundown is that is has about 13k students, a 70 acre campus (which includes a riding stable, ice skating rink, skii/snowboard/tubing slope, and a whole lot of other awesome stuff), and last, but not least, an awesome film department.
So, that's the school that threw a monkey wrench into my future... considering my parents are threatening [very seriously] that if I go there, they'll move the whole family there as well. Which has it's own set of pluses and minuses, which I won't make y'all read...
And so... I'm going to visit Liberty next weekend for their Fall CFAW (college for a weekend) event. I'll stay in the dorm, eat in the cafeteria (which is going to be a pain in the neck, considering my crazy SCD diet), go to classes (on Friday), etc etc etc.
Overall, I'm really excited - but I'm also super nervous... but luckily this insanely awesome dude named Jesus is going to be right there with me the whole time, so I don't have to be freaked out. ;)
You'll probably hear from me sometime after next weekend, and I'll let you all know how it goes. :)
And hey, while you're thinking about it, would you mind saying a prayer for me? About the whole college thing? That God will guide my steps as I make these decisions, and that I'll be able to hear his voice clearly. Thanks so much guys - it means so much to me. :)

I'll be praying for you too! I'm looking at perspective universities as well! XD
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Evie! I really appreciate that. I'll be praying for you, too, in your own university search. :)
DeleteNo Worries! Oh, we should email sometime! :D. And Thank You so much also!!! :)
Delete;D Yesss we should!! I'd love to. I think I have your e-mail from your commenting on my blog... le notification has your email linked. If you don't have mine, I've got the one for my blog linked on the "greetings" tab, which is linked to my other like 10 gmail accounts... LOL. ;)
Delete:D So would I!!! Sweet I will email you then!
DeleteI'm right there with you. Planning for college can be kind of freaky. Like what if I pick the wrong college and ruin my life?! Okay maybe not that drastic but you get the idea. lol :D Btw I looked up Liberty and I have to say I was liking what I read...
ReplyDeleteYep. I really doubt there's any person who would say college planning was easy or not at least a little bit stressful.. :P Hah! Really though... but that's exactly why seeking God's will in every aspect of our lives is so important. If we're doing that, and are tuned into God, He'll guide us to where we need to be -- that WON'T ruin our lives hahah! ;D
DeleteSo praying for you! my brother visited Liberty once and he thought it was okay, but there were a lot of rules he wasnt okay with. they're pretty strict there. But he did like the school. and actually, come to think of it, my friend goes there! haha. and she loves it so....:)
ReplyDeleteHave fun visiting the campus! I cant wait to hear about. Never forget that God is with you and He will direct your steps. There's a verse for that I cant remember right now but if I remember it, I'o you somehow :)
Thanks so so much Faith!! Yeah, when I was looking at the website, there were a few rules and regulations that I thought were a bit too strict, (mostly pertaining to the girl's dress code.. :P) but when I visited, I was able to see that they weren't as strict as they seemed about some of those rules. Oh neat!! I've heard of a lot of awesome people who've gone there and love it, which was really encouraging to me. Like, I wouldn't want to go to a school a bunch of people say they hated.. xD
DeleteAnyway. Thank you *so* much for all the encouragement, Faith, and I'm so excited to tell y'all all about it!! :)
It is a life changing decision quite scary sometimes, but hey you are young and have all the time in the world, if you don't like something about the school or if you tried it out and there is something that doesn't feel right you can always try the other. I will be praying for you - I am sure you will make the best decision God will be there to guide you. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura, for the prayers and the encouragement!! That's another thing that I'm trying to keep in mind, that even if I don't end up going to Liberty, there's plenty of other schools to check out, and at the end of it all, God's gonna lead me to exactly the place I need to be. :)
DeleteSo exciting! I actually just started High School this year so I'm not visiting any colleges at the moment. I think it is a great idea to stay there for a week though, and I hope you have a ton of fun (not just nerves). And Jesus will be right there, don't worry! I'll be praying.
ReplyDelete:D Ah yes! You've got some time then. I remember my freshman year of highschool being super awesome, so I really hope you'll enjoy it!! I think the high school years are honestly some of the best... :) Thank you, Faith, for the encouragement!! It means so much to me. While I was there, the fact that I knew my blogger girls were praying for me was so heartening. :)
DeleteAlso, Tobymac went to Liberty (if you know him)How did it go? I'm seriously starting to think about going to Liberty. It has exactly what I want to do (be a missionary nurse) and none of the colleges around me are Christian and offer what I want to do. I really hope you had a good time! I can't wait to hear how it went!
ReplyDeleteYESS!! I did know that! Totally awesome. :D Basically, CFAW went awesomely. I had so much fun, and learned so much. I just finished a blog post about the first day! Go read it! ;D
DeleteAhh!!! You should totally look into Liberty as an option! It really is an amazing school, with so much to offer. And I do know they have an awesome nursing major, so that's perfect for you desire to become a missionary nurse (which is an awesome dream!!).
