And because I absolutely adore doing things like that (making movies, digital editing, and such) I decided to do it again this year. But for The Hobbit: the Battle of the Five Armies. :D
While I absolutely adore the official trailer, I had several ideas of my own for a trailer for BOFTA... which I then made a reality over the course of about a week. The process included finding, downloading, and editing video clips, finding just the right music, and then, of course, editing it all together.
The music I used is called "An Unfinished Life" by Audiomachine, from their album "Tree of Life," and I edited the trailer using Windows Movie Maker (very high tech, I know. ;D)

(Microsoft recently updated Windows Movie Maker, and it works 900% better after the update. I couldn't used it last year for the DOS trailer I made, as it had a ton of glitches that kept ruining the video as I worked on it, but I decided to give it another try, and it worked like a dream! Super simple, but gets the job done quite well.)
With all that said, here's my trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Hope you like it. I really liked making it. (:
You did a really good job on this! The music was perfect and the transitions very smooth :) I have to say, this excites me more for the movie then the actual trailer did (just because it seemed to show so little, but I know it's just the teaser, so...). Anyway, I applaud you! Is there anyway you can get me the link to the last one you made? I'd like to have a look at that too :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maggie!! That's one thing I was aiming for in my trailer... a bit more excitement-inducing and with more of an 'epic' feeling, as opposed to the more somber and tragic tone of the official one. So I'm glad that came across and that you liked it! ;)
DeleteAnd yes! Here's the link to my Desolation of Smaug trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFAf7F5zb8U
This is wonderful! I actually like it much more than the "real" trailer; and, much as I love Pippin's Song and all Howard Shore's glorious Middle-earth scores, this Audiomachine music fits the feel of the trailer visuals far better. (And the "burst" at the first bit of text is amazing!) Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the sweet compliments, Zoë!! I absolutely adore Audiomachine's music, and when I came across this particular piece, I knew it'd fit a BOFTA trailer rather well. It's so epic, but there's just a hint of tragedy and depression in there. And, yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I was making this... I really like Pippin's Song and how the official trailer is so sad, but I thought it needed some excitement. I mean, for goodness sake -- it's The Battle of the Five Armies! Let's get some epic battle action going! ;) I'm hoping they try that theme instead with the next trailer... hehe. :D
DeleteI really like it!!! It's great! What's the music called?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leia! :D It's called "An Unfinished Life" by Audiomachine.
DeleteI love this!! Some of the trailers were better than the movie. . . . I'm going to start crying all over again. xD
ReplyDeleteAwh, thanks dear! Glad you like it. ;D I would completely agree with you -- I think liked the trailers more than with the actual movie. Isn't that terrible? xD But yeah... the tears, tho. O_O
